lost my iphone, claimed insurance, found my old iphone, can i give it to my neice to use?
ok, ignoring any dubious morality on my behalf, i genuinely lost my beloved iphone last week. i reported it to the police and o2 who have put a block on the phone. my insurance company have been super good, i’ve already bought a new iphone and i’m currently waiting on them to reimburse the money for it.
about 20 minutes ago, i got a phonecall from a guy who found my old phone, apparently the screen is cracked but he could still use it to find my wife’s mobile number on it and call.
no matter what, i’m not going to let my insurance company know about this, but i have a gadget crazy 13 year old neice who would love an iphone…..is it possible for me to get the screen fixed and give it to my neice to use without getting busted by apple/the fuzz/my really nice insurance company?

You can, but it might not work.
As you have alredy said O2 blocked it, so it wont work anyway, if you managed to get it working O2 would inform the police it was being used and she would be arrested for handling stolen goods. So it’s not worth it. Your only course is to send it to O2 or your insurance co letting them know it was found.
There is nothing wrong in what you did. You legitimately lost your cell phone. You reported it to the police and insurance company. You got paid for your loss. There is no fraud there.
Then someone, a stranger perhaps, finds your iPhone and it apparently got damaged while lost. Even if you do contact your insurance company, you can tell them that the phone was found, and returned in a damaged state. I don’t think they’ll give you trouble. But then again maybe they might ask for the damaged phone.
it will have a bad esn . because its marked lost or stolen so no you cant unless for a mp3 player
Technically the phone you lost and claimed insurance on is a property of your insurance company, so if found you should inform them and send it to them. If you are found in possession of the lost or stolen property you might be prosecuted. Reported stolen or lost phones are usually blocked by operators so they wont work, at least in the UK. You can sell it for parts though if you want.
I would suggest to refrain from using insurance claimed phone for your your own good , even if it works. !
o2 mite of just canceled your simcard?????
